Wolverhampton teenage carer stars with Gok Wan

A teenager from Wolverhampton who helped care for his father for more than eight years is the latest star of new TV show Gok’s Teens.
Michael Watson, aged 13, will feature on the Channel 4 show next week as part of an episode dedicated to looking at the lives of young carers.
New ID cards recognise the role of young carers
Nottingham is only the second place nationwide to have the cards, after Lincolnshire.
TEENAGER Claire Machin knows everything there is to know about her mum’s rare condition.
The 16-year-old has been a carer for her mother Sarah Cross for as long as she can remember.
She does everything from helping her to wash and get dressed, to massaging her legs and making sure she takes her medication.
Sarah, 35, has Addison’s disease, a rare condition which means that her body does not produce adrenaline.

YOUNG people in Winchester who act as carers will be given the chance by Media Trust and Sainsbury’s to tell their stories on camera.
Winchester Young Carers has been selected for the Untold Stories scheme, which matches small charities with top filmmakers to create films demonstrating their work.
The charity aims to improve the lives of young people, providing them with support and opportunities to learn life-skills.
