A wet nose and waggy tail set one ‘staff’ member apart at a north Norfolk primary school.
But what Grace lacks in official teacher training she more than makes up for in dogged patience and a soft furry coat.
The retriever-border collie cross has taken up residence in the head’s office every Thursday to help children with their reading.
“There’s no magic involved. It just seems to work,” said Grace’s owner Janice Kingman, head teacher at Antingham and Southrepps Primary School, near North Walsham.

A COUPLE have withdrawn their severely disabled daughter from supported accommodation after a “catalogue of unkept promises”.
In one incident, they claim carers failed to contact Bill and Jean Butt before leaving their 47-year-old daughter to wake up in hospital in pain, among strangers and unable to make herself understood.
Mr and Mrs Butt said they had done everything they could to work with care providers Dimensions and given them every chance but no longer had any faith that staffing problems would be resolved.

A Norfolk amateur dramatics group wants to encourage more people to come and watch its pantomime show’s special signed performance.
For a number of years the Spixworth Amateur Players has done signed performances to give the hard of hearing the opportunity to enjoy their shows.
This year its production Jack and the Beanstalk is being signed by a British Sign Language interpreter on Thursday, February 16 at 7.30pm at Spixworth Village Hall.
The show’s director Lynne Jeffrey said that while the pantomime run was proving popular in general, less interest had been shown in the signed show than in previous years and they were trying to get news of their signed performance out to a wider community of people. We would very much like to carry on with the signed performances, but if we do not get the people coming to watch then we can no longer justify them,” she said.
