Further health bill delay risks confusion for social workers

The government’s health legislation faces being further delayed until the autumn risking confusion for social workers set to re-register next year by putting back the abolition of the GSCC.

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg said today that the Health and Social Care Bill would be sent back to a committee of MPs for a line-by-line examination in light of government plans to make substantial changes in response to heavy criticisms.

There is unlikely to be sufficient time for MPs to scrutinise the bill before the summer recess, meaning it would be pushed back to at least October, reports The Guardian.

Organisers of the region’s popular children’s convoy say this year’s event could be the last due to police reducing their level of support. 

For the past 25 years, crowds have lined the route from Norwich to Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Lowestoft on August bank holiday Sunday to cheer a convoy of up to 100 honking trucks taking disabled and disadvantaged youngsters and their families for a day out.

A HUSBAND who cares for his sick wife is calling on others to join him in the fight to protect services from public spending cuts.

Andrew Peacher (44) only moved to the area a couple of months ago, but is already concerned about the level of support he receives for looking after wife Joanne (44), who suffers from mental health problems and has learning disabilities.
