Rapid Enterprise Development (RED) workshop add energy and fun into learning about business planning
Keith Bates, Head of Employment at the Foundation for People with learning Disabilities:
“Last week we ran a lively two day Rapid Enterprise Development (RED) workshop in the South West as part of our In Business Project. The workshops are designed to add energy and fun into learning about business planning and offers people with a disability and those that support them the chance to really develop their business ideas.
RED Workshops were developed as a way of supporting people to develop their ideas whilst building the local capacity of employment support for people choosing self employment as their route to work. These fully accessible workshops are delivered around specific ‘enterprise tables’.
They use a range of interactive sessions and role play to work out the basics of a business idea, from marketing to finance, and the viability of the idea. Participants and their support workers finish the two day session with the confidence and the basics of a business development plan to work on.
We had some great enterprises to work with which included selling retro toys on eBay, nail art parties and selling hand made wooden products. Participants had been working with our In Business programme to develop their ideas using our tools and resources available freely on our website.”
