The Department for Work & Pensions (DWP) plans to introduce a time limit of one year for all but the most seriously ill people claiming ESA. The decision is likely to affected thousands of people with MS.

CARERS have been forced to set up a do-it-yourself-style day centre for some of Westminster’s most vulnerable people.
 
The Centre for Independent Living in Paddington, which offers activities for deaf and wheelchair-bound residents, will close at the end of this month as part of a shake-up of social care.People with disabilities who have been fighting the closure now plan to club together to stage regular art and cookery classes at another venue nearby.

Di Yeo, chair of campaign group SOS Westminster, called the impending closure “a great tragedy”.

Report calls for more failing care home protection

More needs to be done to protect people from failing care services in England, a report says.

The National Audit office warns greater safeguards are needed when a firm runs into financial trouble as happened recently with Southern Cross homes.

It says there are shortcomings in the government reforms to how services are funded.

The Department of Health says it is already considering whether to oversee the £23bn market more losely.
