Tiverton MP Neil Parish has teamed up with TV presenter Angela Rippon to support this year’s Carers Week.

The week, which runs from June 13 to 19, recognises the contribution made by those people in Devon and throughout the UK who provide unpaid care for someone who is ill, frail or disabled.

Mr Neil met up with Angela at the House of Commons to pay tribute to carers, and to urge that they receive more support in their caring roles.

A WEEK of events will highlight and celebrate the contribution that carers make and provide greater support for those unaware of the services and benefits they may be entitled to.

Three in five people will be a carer at some point in their lives, meaning that one day the true face of a carer may be yours.

Carers receive £55.55 per week, the lowest benefit of its kind and only available for those who care more than 35 hours per week, equating to approximately £1.58 per hour.
