Carers are being offered the chance to take–a–break beside–the–seaside in a holiday home that has just opened. The newly refurbished house at Caister–on–Sea, offers respite breaks for carers, and is run by mental health charity Great Yarmouth and Waveney Mind.
The three–bedroom holiday home is the first of its kind in the region and is available for rent by any person or family who cares for a relative and is need of a respite break. The holidays are specifically aimed at offering carers a break, though they can choose to bring those who they care for on the holiday too.

The charity was established in 1998 as a result of research conducted by Social Services, Health Authority, Local Authorities and Voluntary Organisations. This revealed a need to support unpaid carers throughout Norfolk. The We Care Appeal raises money for the Norfolk Millennium Trust for Carers, an Endowment Fund.

For the past 25 years, crowds have lined the route from Norwich to Pleasurewood Hills theme park in Lowestoft on August bank holiday Sunday to cheer a convoy of up to 100 honking trucks taking disabled and disadvantaged youngsters and their families for a day out.
