A fledgling charity, established by the wife of a Norfolk MP and her twin sister, has celebrated a milestone with a Downing Street reception, hosted by Samantha Cameron.
Elizabeth’s Legacy of Hope was established by sisters Victoria Bacon and Sarah Hope last year to help young amputees across the world, in memory of their mother, Elizabeth Panton, who was killed by an out of control bus in London five years ago.
The same crash also injured Mrs Hope and her two-year-old daughter, Pollyanna, who lost a leg, which spurred the sisters on to set up a charity to help amputees in the developing world.

With £33,000 in the kitty, an order has been placed for the charity’s eighth bus, which is scheduled for delivery in November.
It will give the charity the capacity to wipe out the two month waiting list of people who want to begin using the service, which is designed for the disabled and elderly whose mobility problems prevent them using ordinary public transport.
Norwich Door to Door chief executive Jill Gaul said: “We’d like to thank everyone who chipped in to help us meet the demand that we know is there. The new bus will be the crowning achievement of our 20th anniversary year.”
Contributions to the fundraising have been large and small. They included £10,000 from the National Lottery Awards for All fund and £5,000 from the Geoffrey Watling Charitable Trust, down to supporters and users of the service making individual donations of a few pounds. Two supporters, Ruby Clift and Chris Yeates, raised £901 with a sponsored cycle ride.

Age UK Norwich is searching for 60 new befrienders to keep elderly people active – from a walk in the park to a visit to the pub.
The charity has received £200,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to expand its volunteer project during the next three years to meet an ever-increasing demand.
And now it needs helpers to come forward to put it into action.
The first volunteer event will be held tomorrow at its office in Boardman House, Redwell Street, city centre, from 2pm.
Phil Wells, Age UK Norwich chief executive, said the World Health Organisation regarded loneliness as a “bigger killer than smoking”.
