Carers Gloucestershire launches Walk a Mile in My Shoes to show support for unpaid carers

Footwear will be swapped between friends, family and strangers next month for the biggest carers awareness event in the south west.

Carers Gloucestershire has launched its flagship fundraising event ‘Walk a Mile in My Shoes’, in conjunction with the Gloucestershire Echo and Gloucester Citizen.

The number of older carers in England is rising, with signs the pressures of looking after loved ones is damaging their health, research suggests.

The warning by Age UK and Carers UK came as the charities released figures showing there were 1.2m carers over 65 – a 25% rise in the past decade.
