A £26m project to transform Norfolk County Council’s information technology system has been branded as a “looming catastrophe”, after delays and problems sent it £1.25m over budget.

The Digital Norfolk Ambition project – a tie-up between the council and technology giants Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and Vodafone – was hailed as “ground-breaking” when the deal was agreed in December 2013.

Medical guidance on how to care for elderly people with dementia following a hip fracture is “sadly lacking”, UEA researchers have claimed.

Almost half of all people who suffer hip fractures also have dementia, but a report published today reveals there is no conclusive evidence on how to care for this particularly vulnerable group.

The review, which was funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), highlights an urgent need for better research into what strategies improve post-operative care – both within hospital settings and in the community.

Mr Blue Sky single set to be released in memory of Worcester dad

A CHARITY single in memory of a Worcester dad who died of cancer is set to be released.

The version of Electric Light Orchestra’s Mr Blue Sky was recorded in memory of Battenhall dad Nigel Collinson.

Mr Collinson was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer in September 2013, and died 12 weeks later – just two days after his 45th birthday.
