HAMPSHIRE Constabulary has launched a new poster to help adults with learning disabilities call the police.
In line with Mencap’s Learning Disability Week (August 19-25) the new poster aims to be easier to read and explains when to dial 101 and 999.
Chief Constable Andy Marsh said: “Some of the feedback we’ve received is that often people with a learning disability aren’t sure when to call 101 and when to call 999. “I hope that this poster, alongside the work we’ve been doing to engage with communities affected by disability, will encourage people to come forward to report problems they’re experiencing, demonstrate that the police are here to help and that we can make a difference.”

Fun-loving Angel Allen can sit in comfort as she enjoys a trip on the merry-go-round in her local playground.
Sea Palling now has its own ‘kidabout’ roundabout, specially designed to allow wheelchair users such as Angel, 10, to enjoy a ride.
The kidabout’s ground-floor base and wide entry means Angel, of St Margaret’s Place, can park her wheelchair easily on board, and enjoy a whirl alongside little brother Ben, four.

Elderly people in Norfolk are set to benefit from a new £4.2m housing with care scheme
The cash for the development, which will be built on the Three Score site in Bowthorpe, will be provided by the Home and Communities Agency (HCA) and the Department of Health, after Norwich City Council promised to provide the land free of charge.
The housing with care scheme will be made up of 78 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom apartments with landscaped gardens and community facilities. NorseCare will work in partnership with Norwich City Council, Norfolk County Council and NPS Property Consultants to develop the scheme, which will provide “vital support” to elderly people in the area.
Colleen Walker, board member and county councillor, said: “NorseCare is committed to providing high quality care across the county and the hard work and funding that has gone into applying for these apartments is a great example of this.
