Kind people in Suffolk helping Carers to enjoy a break in the countryside.

CARERS in Brandon will be able to make the most of the town’s country park after a donation from a Suffolk charity.

Suffolk ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) donated a mobility scooter to Brandon Country Park on Monday to allow carers to enjoy a break while taking those that they care for with them.

Helpful course for carers in Chard

CHARD: Support for carers in Chard

By Marion Draper

CHARD Carers Support Group have just finished a four week course at the Springmead Surgery  giving them a certification from St John Ambulance  in dementia, memory loss and stress management.

They had a special visit from Ross Young, chief executive officer of St John Ambulance, Somerset, who presented them with their certificates. The carers support programme periodically offers courses to the group, including first aid, as well as offering important information.

Poem by a Carer……A bad back

It’s hard to carry out caring,
When your back refuses to bend,
And you cannot get your socks on,
Because your leg seems to have no end.

But you cannot be ill as a carer,
The job is still there to be done,
But with backache, it’s like doing the firewalk,
But not nearly half so much fun.

So get yourself up out of bed, lad,
Leave the sheets warm, smooth as silk,
Creak to the bathroom and wash time,
Then go get some bread and some milk.

Try find a comfy position,
Sitting, standing, lying and then,
Hold it for a couple of minutes,
Until duty starts calling again.

So lots of pills and medication,
Will soon have you up , feeling frisky.
O!! Bum to the painkilling tablets,
And pass me the bottle of whisky.
