HYNDBURN’S MP is backing the family of a disabled toddler ‘penalised’ because they have to care for him full time.

Two-year-old Finley Rosbotham’s amazing progress has recently seen him take his first steps despite having cerebral palsy and being born paralysed down one side and with part of his brain missing.

Vulnerable adults in care in England are to be given more protection from abuse, the government has said.

The pledge comes after a BBC Panorama investigation showed staff at a privately run hospital mistreating adults with learning disabilities.

A pattern of abuse at a residential hospital uncovered by BBC Panorama has been condemned as “shocking” by the government.

It comes after Bristol police arrested and later bailed four people over the treatment of patients with learning difficulties at Winterbourne View.

Care Services Minister Paul Burstow said he was determined to strengthen safeguards for vulnerable adults.

NHS South West said it had been “appalled” by the issues raised.
