Bus to help battle against cancer
The Macmillan Cancer Support Mobile Information Service will travel across the county to give people information about tackling the disease.
On Monday, it will be outside the City Museum in Lancaster city centre from 10am until 4pm, before moving elsewhere in the county.
Helen Tuvey, Macmillan lead information support specialist, said: “Our Macmillan information team can answer any concern about cancer, including information about treatments, side effects, benefits advice and what support is available locally. “We’re here for anyone affected by cancer, those with a cancer diagnosis, friends, relatives and carers.” Last year, more than 26,000 people visited the team’s two buses which cover the north of England and the East Midlands.

Surrey deploys army of dementia advisors
Posted by SurreyNews ⋅ February 15, 2012 ⋅
A small army of dementia advisors has been deployed by Surrey County Council to help people with the illness live independently in their own homes.
Specialist advisors* are visiting individuals, their carers and families to act as a guide and help them navigate the system to get help or access local services.
They provide information and advice on the choices available to the 14,000 people in Surrey with dementia, including the near 6,000 who are living with the illness but have not been diagnosed.
NHS ‘Failing those with learning difficulties
The charity Mencap says the NHS is guilty of institutional discrimination against people with learning difficulties and is calling on the government to tackle the issue.
The report is the latest from Mencap to look at the way in which people with learning disabilities are treated in the health service following its 2007 investigation, Death by indifference.
