Here’s the consolation for being stuck in a wheelchair: lots of lovely benefits. Hooray! Gimme gimme gimme!

My wife told me that so wondrous is the state’s largesse for wheelchair users that this is causing resentment among the able-bodied population. So much so that there have been incidences of attacks on the tube.

TENS of thousands of young carers will miss out on up to £3,550 a year under brutal benefit changes, campaigners warned yesterday.

Axing disability “premiums” could leave 25,000 people around £70 a week poorer, said the Children’s Society.

The Government claims carers will be compensated by other increases, but not all will qualify and there is no guarantee benefits will keep pace with spiralling prices.

THE Worcestershire Association of Carers is about to launch a grand prize raffle to help raise funds for carers so that they can have a much-needed break.

The ‘treat yourself’ theme for the wonderful range of prizes includes a top cash prize of £500, second prize is a dinner, bed and breakfast at the Hilton Puckrup Hall, plus many more fantastic prizes.
