West Sussex Carers get a chance to share their needs!

Focus on carers at Health and Wellbeing Board

Date: 10 April 2013
Press release number: PR5417

A presentation on carers and their needs will feature at the West Sussex Health and Wellbeing Board meeting this month.

It’s the first meeting of the Board to take place since the national NHS changes came into effect on 1 April 2013, which sees the responsibility for public health moving to local authorities and also the introduction of the three West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The meeting, which is open to the public to attend, takes place on Thursday 18 April 2013 at 2.15pm at County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ.

The presentation from public health will look at the early findings from the Carers’ Needs Assessment and will ask for comment from the Board on the findings and proposed recommendations. Members of the public at the meeting will also be asked for their views.

It is expected that the final report on the Carers’ Needs Assessment will be published in July 2013.

The Chairman of the Board said: “The Board recognises the vital role that carers play so we look forward to hearing the initial findings from the Carers’ Needs Assessment.”

The meeting also marks the first of the Health and Wellbeing Board out of its ‘shadow’ status now the national health changes have officially come into effect.

Also on the agenda is an open forum item where the public present at the meeting are able to raise any questions or comments they have. This was trialled at the last meeting of the Board and was very well-received, so is now a regular item.
