The East of England Hardest Hit Rally Saturday 22nd October

East of England The Hardest Hit Rally

Saturday 22 October 2011
March 12pm and Rally 1pm
Chaplefield Gardens, Norwich

Disabled people in the East of England, along with their families and friends, are taking to the streets in Norwich to protest against Government cuts to disability benefits and services.  Join us and help to make sure all our voices are heard.

March
The march is starting from Chapelfield Gardens, Chapel Field Road in the centre of Norwich at 12.00, although we expect people will begin to assemble from 11.30.  The march will return to Chapelfield Gardens where the rally will start at 1.00.

Rally
We plan to have a range of speakers who will keep us informed and entertained.  Confirmed so far is Jaspal Dhani, CEO of the UK Disabled People’s Council, and members of the Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People’s Youth Forum.  We will also be joined by a number of other local people who can speak from their own experiences about what the proposed cuts to benefits and services will mean to them as disabled people trying to live independent and fulfilling lives.

There will be a BSL interpreter at the rally.

How to get there
For a map showing how to get to Norwich and a more detailed city centre map scroll through the brochure at http://www.visitnorwich.co.uk/documents/464.pdf
Both maps are towards the end.  Details of blue badge parking available in Norwich can be found at http://www.norwich.gov.uk/TransportAndStreets/Parking/pages/DisabledParking-BlueBadges.aspxhe

As new speakers and contributors are confirmed we will be adding them to this page, so do keep an eye out for any changes.  Please also help us spread the word about Hardest Hit.  Norwich is one of many cities across the East of England that have been severely affected by budget cuts.  Across the region people are seeing deep cuts in services such as social care and transport, which they rely on to remain independent.  Please come along, and bring as many friends and family as you can.  Help us to send a clear message to the Government: stop these cuts.

To register your interest in the rally please email: eastofengland@hardesthit.org.uk or call 020 8522 7433

Make sure your voice is heard even if you can’t attend
We know that not everyone who feels strongly about the cuts will be able to come along but that is no reason not to make your mark on the day.  Send us your name and a photo that we can put on one of our placards, so everyone can see this matters to you too.  Send your details to eastofengland@hardesthit.org.uk
