Queen receives teddy bears at hospice opening

The Queen yesterday officially opened a new £3.4 million facility for The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House.

Located in the village of Hillington, the hospice is a just over three miles from Sandringham Estate.

Dressed in a teal Peter Enrione collared dress and coat, The Queen met Jack Plummer from King’s Lynn, his mother Amee Walton died in 2013 from a brain tumour at the young age of 29.

They are united by a love for music.

Many friendships have been formed at the Come Singing group, and participants have performed in flash mobs across Norwich.

And members of the singing group, for people living with dementia, look forward to their meetings.

Alex Walton is giving out envelopes randomly hiding them around Norwich.

They contain a Christmas story he’s written and small gifts – either an inspirational card or £5, a cinema ticket or a voucher – which he hopes will bring strangers some cheer at Xmas.

Sometimes the kindness of strangers is exactly what you need to realise that you’re not alone.

Norwich man Alex Walton has a Christmas mission: to deliver messages of hope and festive cheer to 100 strangers in the hope that he will find people who truly need to connect with a compassionate heart at a time of year when loneliness can feel amplified to deafening levels of hopelessness.
