Young Norfolk carers interview JLS star Oritse Williams

Five young Norfolk carers who interviewed Oritse Williams from JLS before the pop band’s recent Carrow Road concert have put a video of their chat with him on YouTube.

The youngsters have lost carer services because of cuts to council funding and are campaigning to try and save some of the services, as part of National Carers Week.

The issue is close to the pop star’s heart as he cared for his mother from the age of 12, when she was diagnosed with MS.

Oldham Carers’ Centre manager Miranda Di Blasio has expressed concern that government funds will not reach those who need it most.

As she welcomed local MPs Michael Meacher and Debbie Abrahams to the Phoenix Centre as part of National Carers’ Week, Miranda was at the same time worried that not enough cash would go towards providing breaks for carers.
