Stepping Hill: Police investigate contaminated milk

Police are probing a second suspected contamination incident at Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital after milk was found “spiked with bleach” on a ward.

However detectives said there was no evidence of a link to the sabotage of saline drips earlier this year.

The investigation into contaminated saline has been narrowed to focus on three deaths, police revealed earlier.

Elderly carers ‘need more support from GPs’

There are thought to be six million carers in the UK. Many of them are over retirement age.

 Call to give more support to carers
GPs throughout the UK should be giving more support to carers who are aged over 60, a charity says.

The Princess Royal Trust for Carers says family doctors should offer older carers an annual health check, including screening for depression.

The charity says almost 70% of hundreds of older carers questioned in a survey said that their health was suffering because of their responsibilities.

Crossroads Care to provide day care for people living with dementia in Newmarket

New care scheme for dementia sufferers

 

A CHARITY which supports carers will set up a new day care scheme in Newmarket thanks to a funding boost. 

Crossroads Care will introduce the Homeshare scheme to the town and the surrounding area to provide day care for people living with dementia.

The team is appealing for volunteers to act as “homesharers” by providing their own homes for the scheme
