AT RISK people in Bo’ness, Blackness and Whitecross are urged to get their annual free flu jab, that this year includes the swine flu strain.
Last flu season, NHS Forth Valley achieved Scotland’s highest uptake of over-65s.

The Scottish government has allocated £954,000 to fund short breaks for 3,500 young and adult carers across Scotland. Fifty-eight organisations have been offered a share of almost £954,000 for a variety of short breaks projects. This includes 14 groups who help carers purchase their own breaks.
The funding will support young carers and adult carers who care for disabled children, people with dementia, mental health problems and other long-term conditions, substance misuse problems, adults with learning disabilities and adults with physical disabilities.

His eye for detail gave wildlife artist Steve Cale an incredible life of travelling the world and making a living from doing what he loves.
But a freak, one-in-a-million accident, shattered Mr Cale’s right eyeball and threatened to have the same effect on his dreams.
One evening, after returning from a day’s work at the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, in Welney, sketching scenes from the famed Festival of Swans, Mr Cale was unloading his car at his former home in Great Ryburgh, when the plastic toggle of his coat flicked into his eye, causing extensive injuries.
