Vulnerable families will be pushed past breaking point if Chancellor George Osborne holds down the annual uprating of benefits, a charity warned today.
Unconfirmed reports in The Times today claimed that Mr Osborne is planning to slice £1 billion off the welfare bill by breaking a long-standing procedure under which benefits are upgraded each year in line with September’s inflation rate.

West Midlands Ambulance Service is backing a campaign by the NHS which encourages the public to take control of their own health and wellbeing.
The primary focus of ‘Self Care Week’ is on the public, people with long term conditions and their carers, which is a key area of work for the ambulance service. By making sure people are prepared, there is a significant potential to reduce the number of 999 calls and help keep hospital admissions down.
Holiday breaks for people with MS and their carers
Two charities are working together to provide subsidised respite breaks for people with multiple sclerosis in Chigwell, Southampton, and Southport.
Disability charity Vitalise and the MS Society have joined forces to provide the breaks at Vitalise’s three accessible holiday centres, Jubilee Lodge in Chigwell, Netley Waterside House, in Southampton, and Sandpipers, in Southport.
