Here’s the consolation for being stuck in a wheelchair: lots of lovely benefits. Hooray! Gimme gimme gimme!
My wife told me that so wondrous is the state’s largesse for wheelchair users that this is causing resentment among the able-bodied population. So much so that there have been incidences of attacks on the tube.
Becoming A Carer
I’m searching for myself
I used to be around
But now that i’m a carer
I just can’t be found
I used to be so different
Not worried and tired all the time
There are only so many hours in a day
And not many of them mine
I really miss my freedom
The fun and carefree days
A time when i knew who i was
And not lost within this maze.

DNA Changes Affect Age Of Dementia Onset, UK
Article Date: 07 Apr 2011
Exciting research which sheds light on the processes that take place during early onset dementia was revealed at an event in London.
Dr Emma Jones from Kings College was speaking at a research roadshow hosted by Alzheimer’s Society.
Dr Jones has found that it is not just changes within specific genes that can affect the age that a person develops dementia but that changes outside of these genes may also be important. She found that if a small section of DNA was present close to the Alzheimer’s associated gene, APP, then individuals developed dementia earlier.
