SOUTH SOMERSET: Carers’ visit from the Princess Royal

A good chance for carers to speak with Her Royal Highness.

HER ROYAL Highness The Princess Royal is to attend this year’s annual Somerset Carers’ Day conference on Monday, July 25th, at Dillington House, near Ilminster.

The day is an opportunity for carers and health and social care professionals to meet socially, listen to guest speakers and participate in a variety of workshops.

During the hour long visit Her Royal Highness will give an address to carers followed by an opportunity to talk informally with those attending.

Linda Nash, Chairman of Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the organisation which organises the annual carers day, said: “This annual conference is about giving carers an opportunity to recharge their batteries in a beautiful environment, share experiences and receive and give support to others. Caring for loved ones who are struggling with their mental health is a demanding full time job with little respite. The love and the support they give is often largely unseen and taken for granted however, without this unstinting sacrifice agencies, like the NHS, would struggle to manage. The Annual Carers Conference is also a way of recognising this wonderful contribution, saying thank you and enabling their collective voice to be heard.”
