YOUNGSTERS at a childcare centre dressed up this week to raise money for the Lynn News Young Carers’ Appeal.
Children from the Elephant and Castle Childcare Centre, in Dunham Road Sporle, enjoyed different activities from a picnic to face painting, as well as a visit from Shrek.
Parents and carers could drop into the centre all this week, as part of National Childcare Week, and visitors included Christine O’Keeffe, project leader of the Downham Crossroads Care Group, which supports young carers.
A raffle will also take place today, which expects to raise £50 for the Lynn News appeal.
Prizes were donated from local businesses, including the Rainbow Co-op store in Swaffham, and the Threeways Store, in Sporle. Top prizes were a £50 Asda voucher and a £10 Waitrose voucher.
Lisa Clarke, manager of the Elephant and Castle Childcare Centre, said: “The children have enjoyed the different activities throughout the week, in particular the indoor picnic. We would like to thank everybody who donated for our raffle.”
Next Thursday, members of the Hunstanton Round Table organisation will be taking part in a 1,000-mile coast to coast car challenge.
The vehicles taking part will be themed as a Batmobile, General Lee, Bandit, Smokey and Hairy Dog Van.
It will start at 9.30am from Hunstanton’s Golden Lion Hotel and head towards Bournemouth. The following day the cars will head towards Blackpool, Whitley Bay the day after and then back to Hunstanton.
