PEOPLE browsing the market in Barnard Castle last week had the chance to take breather on a sofa  – and talk about mental health. 
The bright red sofa was set out in the busy street by England’s leading mental health anti-discrimination programme, Time to Change, to help end the silence around mental health problems.

A guide dog who was brutally attacked by another dog but returned to lead his blind owner home has been honoured.

Piper, a black Labrador, was bitten while out walking with Sarah Craig-Hancock in Bridgend.

After being chased and injured by his attacker, he returned to his owner to fulfil his duties.

An Alzheimer’s Society research programme could lead to new dementia treatments within ten years, leading scientists said.

The Drug Discovery programme could lead to treatments that give benefits five times longer than current dementia drugs and delay the onset of the condition.
