The problems of obesity and overeating in our society receive a lot of attention.
But in this week’s Scrubbing Up, Katherine Murphy of the Patients Association calls for more action to help the millions in the UK whose malnutrition is “unnoticed, unheard and unsupported”.
It is unbelievable that in the UK today there are more than 3m people either malnourished or at risk of malnutrition.
What is alarming is that 93% of these patients are not in hospital but are living in the community.
It is our most vulnerable members of society who are most at risk.

Charities lose £4m to faster internet plan
Four million pounds which was promised to good causes across Cambridgeshire will be diverted to deliver superfast broadband.
County council leader Cllr Nick Clarke said the project was “vital” for quality of life and business but the decision sparked criticism since the authority said it was prepared to borrow to provide speedy internet.
The cash was earmarked for charities, voluntary groups and council projects under a system called local public service agreements (LPSA), but was withdrawn by the Government last year with only half of the £9 million fund distributed.
