Anyone who spotted 10 naked men around and about North Walsham last month may be reassured to learn that they had all stripped off in a good cause.

The cheeky bunch were posing for a fund-raising Men of North Walsham calendar in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre (MSRC) charity.

Venues included an extremely parky Bacton beach, Northrepps airfield, near Cromer, Bacton woods, and North Walsham pubs the Orchard Gardens and the Black Swan. Behind the camera was North Walsham photographer Saara Girling.

The light-hearted calendar – which includes an out-takes page – was the idea of North Walsham friends Martin Church, Martin Hicks and Paul Gibbons who will also be running in April’s London Marathon for the cause.

All three have run the London before, Mr Church and Mr Hicks for MSRC when they collectively raised more than £12,000.

“Money’s a bit tighter for people this time and we’ve been struggling a bit for sponsors,” said Mr Church, 31.

“We thought if we gave something back, people would feel like they were getting something for their money.”

The multiple sclerosis charity has special meaning for Mr Hicks. He said: “I have seen first-hand the damage this disease can cause with a member of my own family suffering from the illness. The work that the MSRC provide is very valuable to many families, and charities such as this need all of our support.”

The three runners are also planning an auction night on February 2 at the Black Swan rooms, combined with a band and disco evening, and are appealing for donations.

● The calendars, which cost £10, are available from The Black Swan, The Orchard Gardens and the convenience stores on the town’s Mundesley, Happisburgh and Station Roads, or contact Martin Hicks on 07810437057. martin@framstax.com and Martin Church on 07775973034 or martinchurch@live.co.uk with all proceeds going to MSRC.
