A MEMORIAL hockey tournament in honour of a popular pub landlord who died unexpectedly aged only 48 raised £200 for a local charity.

Trevor Marston, former landlord of the Brewers Arms in West Malvern, had seemed in good health before he collapsed at the pub in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2010.

Members of Colwall and Malvern Hockey Club ran the third annual Trevor Marston Memorial Tournament at the Malvern St James Sports and Fitness Centre in Barnards Green Road.

Teams competed in a variety of fancy dress ranging from gangsters to the Teletubbies, and the prizes were awarded by Mr Marston’s partner Sue Adamson, who still runs the Brewers Arms.

The £200 raised has been donated to the Worcestershire Association of Carers.

Chief officer Carole Cumino said: “We’re delighted the hockey club decided to make us their nominated charity this year.

“It’s great to see people enjoying themselves and raising money at the same time and we’re very grateful for the donation.

“The money raised will be used to support family and informal carers in the county, and we’re very grateful for the donation.”

MSJ provided a pitch while medals and awards came from A Star Printing.
