SIGNED photos by celebrity Stephen Fry and a three-course meal will be on offer at a forthcoming fundraiser for the Lynn News Young Carers’ Appeal.

The charity night has been organised by the West Norfolk Young Carers’ Group, in Lynn, who will benefit from the new campaign.

It will take place at Lynn’s Town Hall, in Saturday Market Place, on Friday, October 14, from 8pm until 11.30pm.

As well as music from local band The Foolish people’s skills will be on offer in a human auction.

These include a three-course meal cooked by the chef from Market Bistro restaurant, in Lynn’s Saturday Market Place, a massage, a 45-minute reiki session and a one-hour visit from an electrician.

But more people are needed to donate their skills for the worthy cause. If you would like to get involved in the charity night contact Jackie Haverson by calling 01553 768155 or emailing jackiewnc@hotmail.co.uk

The group will also be doing bag packing at Lynn’s Sainsbury’s supermarket on Tuesday, August 2, as well as having a charity stall on Lynn’s Tuesday Market Place, on August 23, September 13, and October 11.

The Elephant and Castle Childcare Centre, in Dunham Road, Sporle, will also be doing their bit for the Young Carers’ Appeal.

From Monday to Friday next week the centre will be raising money through fancy dress and a raffle.

Top prizes include a £50 Asda voucher and £10 Waitrose voucher. Items have also been donated by Swaffham’s Co-op store and the Threeways store in Sporle.

The childcare centre will be open to the parents, grandparents and education and healthcare professionals next week, for National Childcare Week.

Youngsters will be wearing fancy dress for the occasion and putting on special parades.

A special picnic, bouncy castle and face painting will also be put on for the children and parents throughout the week.

Lisa Clarke, manager of the childcare centre, said: “We know how hard it is to care for young children and therefore we have empathy for the young people and children who care for other people.”

If you would like to visit the centre call Mrs Clarke on 01760 720357.

The appeal aims to raise £100,000 for young carers across West Norfolk.

Donations can be made at Walkers News, in Norfolk Street, Lynn, and Dine and Party, in St James Street, Lynn.
