New £55m centre in Stirling for elderly care agreed

Plans have been unveiled to “transform” the way elderly people in the Forth Valley are cared for.

Stirling Council said it planned to develop a care “village” which brought together social, health and GP services on the same site.

NHS Forth Valley are also involved in the project, which could cost £55m.

MONIFIETH Rotary president Mike Leonard presents a cheque for £3,000 to Katie Webster of Angus Carers at the meeting in the Grange Golf Club last Wednesday evening.

Also pictured are members of the golf committee, from left – Adrian Arthur, Norman Howie and David Barrie.

The money was raised at the Rotary Am Am event held at Barry, which realised the impressive total of £5,000. Angus Carers is the major recipient of the money raised.

Welcome news for carers in Scotland

£300,000 package for autism schemes

(UKPA) –

Almost £300,000 has been awarded to 16 organisations to develop new support services for people with autism and their families.

The package includes £84,463 for Richmond Fellowship Scotland to provide training opportunities for family carers.

A total of £10,590 is being given to Barnardo’s Intensive Behaviour Support Service (BIBSS), which will extend its remits to include families with autistic children, while Perth Autism Support is getting £11,000 for children and family support services.
