Wolverhampton teenage carer stars with Gok Wan

A teenager from Wolverhampton who helped care for his father for more than eight years is the latest star of new TV show Gok’s Teens.

Michael Watson, aged 13, will feature on the Channel 4 show next week as part of an episode dedicated to looking at the lives of young carers.

Set up late last year, Positive About MS is a website for those whose lives are affected by Multiple Sclerosis, but the aim of this Manchester based website is to offer more than just information.

Walkden based Kaz Laljee, who was diagnosed with primary progressive MS just over five years ago, created the website as a response to the media’s typically morbid portrayal of those who have MS.

A husband who is a full-time carer for his wife has hit out after he was sent a backdated bill by Suffolk County Council.

A husband who is a full-time carer for his wife has hit out after he was sent a backdated bill by Suffolk County Council.

Andrew Challis gave up work at Dalehead Foods 10 years ago to look after his wife Cher, 45, who has multiple sclerosis.

The couple, who live in Haverhill, go out once a week to the town’s Hawk Club – but after 10 years has the council which funds her place, has reassessed them, and sent them a backdated bill for £81.36.
