Carers need our support

By North Devon Journal  |  Posted: May 08, 2014

In last week’s Journal there was a fabulous piece from North Devon Hospice’s very own Beth Kelso.

In the regular “Opinion” section, Beth was writing about the way in which we support carers, an aspect of hospice care that many are not aware of. After all, if it wasn’t for these carers (often husbands, wives, sons or daughters) the health of the person they are looking after would suffer greatly.

We feel it is absolutely vital that carers feel supported in their task, which can take over their entire life.

Beth’s article provided an enlightening insight into the Carers’ Pamper Day that we regularly run at the hospice, where carers get a day to completely relax and be looked after by us.

It was a poignant reminder about how North Devon Hospice is here for all the family. When you support the hospice in any way, it is this vital care that you are helping to fund.

Of course, a great way to support North Devon Hospice on a regular basis is by joining our Lottery Club. Playing for just £1 a week puts you in with a chance of winning 35 weekly cash prizes, including the weekly £1,000 jackpot which this week goes to Mrs J T (12172) of Ilfracombe. Mrs E V (82379) of Holsworthy won £100 and Mr N S (87287) from Luton won £75. Mr S McG (56379) our £50 winner is from Barnstaple and our £25 winner Mr G W (13009) lives in Barnstaple.

Congratulations to the other 30 prizewinners for this week’s draw and thank you to all our Lottery Club members and to our wonderful volunterrs, collectors and recruiters for your ongoing support.
