Liaison psychiatry teams in general hospitals can cut costs to the NHS by reducing how many people need beds and how long they stay, according to a report published by Centre for Mental Health with the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and funded by the Strategic Health Authority Mental Health Leads.
Liaison psychiatry services provide mental health care to people being treated for physical health conditions in general hospitals.

NHS Self Care Week.
West Midlands Ambulance Service is backing a campaign by the NHS which encourages the public to take control of their own health and wellbeing.
The primary focus of ‘Self Care Week’ is on the public, people with long term conditions and their carers, which is a key area of work for the ambulance service. By making sure people are prepared, there is a significant potential to reduce the number of 999 calls and help keep hospital admissions down.
