Scope and independent think-tank nef have launched a new report called Doing services differently: local innovations for disabled people. We hope it will spark a new conversation with and between councils and charities, on how we can work together to deliver the support disabled people want, in order to lead the lives they value.

Councils and charities alike are facing unprecedented budget cuts coupled with increasing demands for services. A big challenge for both sectors is to understand how services can support disabled people at a time when cuts are the main driver of change.

Special day for parents and carers of children with additional support needs

‘THE WHOLE Child’ is the title of a major conference currently being organised for parents and carers of children with additional support needs.

The event will take place in the Carnoustie Golf Hotel on Wednesday, November 7.

Greg Barker commenting on price increase announcements from energy suppliers

Commenting on price increase announcements from energy suppliers, Energy and Climate Change Minister Greg Barker today said:

“This is very unwelcome, and I know lots of families who are struggling to balance their budgets will be very disappointed and concerned by these price rises. That’s why Government is taking action on a number of fronts: short-term measures to help people struggling with bills this winter, long-term measures to reform the market and bring in more competition.
