Carer’s Assessments – know your rights
February 14, 2013
Caring for someone who has additional needs due to their age, illness or disability is a vey difficult job.
The law says that if you provide a ‘substantial’ amount of care to someone on a ‘regular’ basis you have a freestanding right to a carer’s assessment. This applies to carers of any age who provide care to adults or disabled children.
In addition, carers should be included and consulted during the care assessments of the person that they look after.

Meet James Hen-son and Rory Cluck-Ardle – the creations of a charity which has turned Bradford City into Bradford Knitty.
Each year, the Carers’ Resource teams in Shipley and Skipton team up with Cadbury’s to knit Easter chick covers for the chocolate giant’s Creme Eggs – and raise money in an eye-catching fashion.
But this year’s collection features a limited edition in claret and amber to commemorate Bradford City’s trip to Wembley Stadium for the Capital One Cup final against Swansea City on Sunday.
The project hatched the idea of turning Bantams’ stars such as James Hanson into James Hen-son and Rory McArdle into Rory Cluck-Ardle, after the side dumped Premiership opponents Aston Villa out of the cup.
