Good idea, to offer transport for carers to get to events!
Transport offer to give carers a break
A community transport group is offering to take carers to and from a range of events and activities over the next few months.
The Bury St Edmunds Volunteer Centre will provide transport for a number of trips including to the Norfolk Broads, Bressingham Steam and Gardens, lunch at West Suffolk College and Aladdin at the Theatre Royal.
The move coincides with national Carers Week from June 10 to 16.
Chief officer Hazel Pidsley said: “These events and activities are free to those who care for someone without pay, who may be elderly or have a disability. Being a carer can be very demanding and stressful so it is important these people have the opportunity for respite for the sake of their own mental and physical well-being.”
The Centre provides a range of community transport services for elderly people, local groups as well as those who have impaired mobility and are rurally isolated. For further information call 01284 766126 or email chiefofficer@bsevc.co.uk
