£2m campaign raising awareness on Dementia
Pilot on dementia is going national
A CAMPAIGN piloted in the north west to raise awareness of the early signs of dementia is being rolled out nationally.
The Department of Health is spending £2m on the TV, radio and print campaign after it proved successful in the region.
Around 82,000 people are thought to be living with dementia in the region and half are undiagnosed. Health bosses want people to be aware of the symptoms ahead of Christmas, when families spend more time together.
Retired headmaster Jim Swift from Bolton acts as a carer for his wife, Jan, who developed dementia nine years ago.
He said: “Thanks to early diagnosis, treatment and support my wife and I were able to enjoy further years together.”
