£200,000 fund launched for carers
CARERS from across Bradford
CARERS from across Bradford are to share in a grant scheme worth almost £200,000 to promote their own health and well-being.
The growing number of unpaid carers in Bradford, Airedale and parts of Wharfedale can apply for up to £200 to enable them to have a break from the day-to-day pressures of looking after a loved one.
The money can be used to go on a short break, take up a pastime, or enable carers to do something they had always wanted but never had the opportunity, such as learning a new skill.
The scheme is funded by Bradford Council with support from the NHS and is co-ordinated by the Shipley-based charity, the Carers’ Resource.
Over 1,000 carers are expected to benefit and have until December 20 to apply.
It is open to anyone within Bradford district who cares for a family member, relative, friend or neighbour who suffers with a physical or mental health problem, drug or alcohol addiction, or simply due to frailty and old age.
Preference will be given to carers who have not received a Carer’s Small Grant within the past 12 months. For more information call 01274 965883 or email smallgrant@carersresource.org.
