Local man launches website to help the elderly and disabled of Essex

A new company has launched to help the elderly and disabled of Essex to remain living independently in their own homes. Chelmsford man John Ford was inspired to start my home care Services following the difficulty he experienced in setting up a home care package for his 90 year old Father.

“After my Mum died, I wanted to make sure Dad would cope in his Loughton home with friends and family nearby. Dad certainly didn’t want to move from the house that he’d lived in for 50 years”.

John, 40, thought that his 90 year old Father would probably need a visiting carer and perhaps some home adaptations and approached the council. But currently, if a person has in excess of £23,250 in savings they are categorised as a ‘self-funder’ and the state will not fund or organise home adaptations or care. Instead it becomes the responsibility of the home owner themselves. As Mr Ford Snr was a self funder, Essex County Council was unable to offer much help.

My home care services is a one stop shop for home care and provides everything that the self funder and their loved ones need to help them retain independence in their own homes.

“After my experiences with Dad I realised I’d got a lot of knowledge which would help people in the same position, including elderly or disabled people and their loved ones,” said John, “So I set up my home care services.”

http://www.myhomecareservices.co.uk/ offers free help and advice for the Essex self funder, it provides a complete design and home adaptation service, an on-line shop selling specialist products and equipment and holds a directory of local businesses and services that the self funding elderly and disabled may require.
