Platform for disabled anglers opens at Rackerhayes Ponds
Disabled and their carers enabled to ‘go fishing.’
Anglers from Newton Abbot Fishing Association use the site
A platform which will enable disabled anglers to use a fishing site in Devon has opened.
The £16,000 project at Rackerhayes Ponds, in Newton Abbot, has been funded by the Environment Agency from the selling of rod licences.
The work has included building a 10m (33ft) long wooden platform, access ramp and cutting into the bank to create a footpath.
The six ponds at the site are used by the Newton Abbot Fishing Association.
