Carers urged to include information in census

Carers in the Isle of Man are being advised to make the most of changes to the forms for the 2011 census, due to take place this weekend.

They include a question which asks if the householder, or anyone aged 16 or over living there, takes care of someone who, for example, suffers from long-term mental or physical ill health.

The data gathered will help inform government policy and funding in the sector for the coming years.

Crossroads Caring For Carers CEO Jackie Betteridge explains why people should provide the information (play audio file):

The 2011 Isle of Man census takes place on Sunday, March 27.
