IF RESIDENTS went down to the woods this week they might have found pupils from a Runcorn school having fun for charity.

Saint Mary’s Primary School pupils in Halton Village held a teddy bears’ picnic, raising £250 for the National Deaf Children’s Society.

The Year 1 students chose the cause because one its class members has hearing difficulties.
Simon Owen, teacher, said: “Her mum who helped to organise the event and prepared all the cakes which were sold to parents and other staff alike.”
