The Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House yesterday launched an appeal to raise £750,000 to improve palliative care services in the county. In the second of our five-part series, the EDP spoke to two carers who benefit from the charity’s practical and emotional support.
Caring for her husband is a 24/7 job for Doreen Hannant so any offer of a respite – no matter how small – is one she grabs with both hands.
Her husband John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease six years ago and last year was also diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

A new service aimed at supporting older people living in their own homes to maintain their independence has launched in Norfolk.
The community outreach service for older people launched last week and supports vulnerable people who live in their own homes but might need some extra help to live full and active lives in their communities.

A concerned daughter has blasted Norfolk County Council’s plans to close a dementia unit in Blofield which she says has made a huge difference to her mother’s life.
Allison Little, from Neatishead, is unhappy with the county council’s reasoning for closing the Stocks Lane Day Centre in Blofield – which, as reported in Saturday’s Norwich Evening News, is due to happen this autumn.
Ms Little’s 82-year-old mother, also from Neatishead, attends the day centre five days a week as she has Alzheimer’s disease.
