A cafe run by adults with learning disabilities has been opened in the heart of the high street – providing its staff with the opportunity to gain experience at work.
The About With Friends Cafe in Cromer is run by the charity’s members with help from support staff and will serve a full menu.
The cafe, at the former Blue Danube in Tucker Street, was opened yesterday by MP for north Norfolk Norman Lamb.
Helen Dalton-Hare, chief executive of About With Friends, said it provided a brilliant opportunity.

The new directory which can be found at www.asklily.org.uk has been compiled by West Norfolk Council on behalf of the West Norfolk Partnership.
It contains over 900 entries covering social activities, health, transport, money matters and more, and is designed to be a one-stop-shop for anyone looking for information for the over 65s living in West Norfolk.
At the last Census, 23per cent of West Norfolk’s population was over 65, with 27per cent of these people living alone. Estimates suggest that these figures are set to rise.
Second home ownership, the rural nature of the borough and a trend for people to retire to West Norfolk from other areas, mean many older people can find themselves without vital community or family networks. LILY brings together a range of information, for older people and those who support them, in one place, making it easy for people to find the contacts and information they need.

A former carer is concerned he will become homeless following the death of his grandmother whose home he shared.
Owen Arundel, 23, from Hayward Close, Blakeney, was told by Victory Housing Trust to leave because he lived in the two-bedroom property with his relative a few weeks short of the 12- month period in the rules to qualify him to stay.
His grandmother, Janice Arundel, 68, who died in January 20 from cancer, was the tenancy holder and her grandson moved in on February 25 last year to care for her.
