Now there's a thought ...
The minibuses have had their grants cut so much we rely more and more on fundraising ... the money these Easter Knitties raised would pay for fuel for one bus for a fortnight and we do as much as 96 miles a day just in and around Norwich.
So many people rely on us to get out who can't use buses -the disabled, elderly (last time I checked our youngest passenger was 3 years and the oldest 104)! I recently met one lady and gent and they hadn't been into the city for 16 years !!! They use us for essential trips - health appointments (hospital, doctors, physio, dentists, opticians etc), get to schools, groceries, day centres. For some of our passengers we might be the only people they meet in over 2 weeks ...
It costs us £12 per return trip per person and they pay £6 return, the other money to keep the service going has to be made up somehow. plus all the checks and maintenance the buses need to keep them safe and road legal.
I have just handed over 166 little pumkins for Halloween
