Sometimes a nearest one isn't always the best but an accessible one.
When we moved here 12 years ago, there's a dentist a few doors down but I deliberately kept up with the one at the shopping centre a few miles away because it was completely accessible. The one nearby is a two two-storey converted houses. Unfortunately, my accessible dentist went private so we joined the nearby one as they're NHS.
They are lovely and do accommodate our son making all our check ups downstairs. Unfortunately, as he's grown, his wheelchair's got bigger and it's more difficult to negotiate the corridor that is as wide as a standard door. If we're lucky, the dentist will swap to the front consultation room just for our checkups.

Really glad to read that it has worked out for you and your son.

Our chemist is on corner of street, GP 5 min drive, dentist 5 min walk. All are accessible, dentist always makes sure he uses the downstairs room for Bill as no lift
