Sheila,
I do hope the doctor was able to help you. It looks to me that the hospital is doing all they can to help Paul.
It is ok to cry you know, nothing at all wrong with that.
Try and stay as much as you can with him at the hospital, because you could be the person to bring him round.
love to you
Wendy

I took your advice, and went to see Paul tonight. They have done the MRI and EEG, and they can't see anything different with his brain, and at 1/4 to 4 this afternoon the Neurologist rang me to ask my permission to do the lumbar puncture this afternoon. I said ok. When I got there Paul was awake and they had just bought his tea for him. It was his favourite chips, but he refused outright to eat anything. I tried to put one in his mouth, and he got really angry and was trying to push me away. I managed one chip but he wasn't having any of it. I asked him why and he let me know in a roundabout way that he's had enough & has given up. Not quite what I was hoping for!!

Hi Sheila,
I am glad he was awake when you got there and although he wasn't in a good frame of mind it must have been a relief to see him awake. He is obviously still fighting cos you don't get angry if you want to give up. I know how hard it is when your husband gets angry with you. It is upsetting and says the things he says. Take heart that he is awake and communicating. It is a very good start.
Thinking of you.

Hi Sheila I know what a lumber puncture can do to a person,Stan had 7 in 6 weeks years ago when he had meningities.
With all these tests they should get to the bottom of things
Take Care

Hi, thank you for your messages. We had a meeting with 2 doctors today and I told them what he said last night. They've changed his antidepressants and he said if they can't find anything wrong with the lumbar puncture results, they may send him home. He asked me how I felt about it and I said if he's how he is now, then I'd need a lot more support than I currently have. Today he is refusing food and drink, and he told me if he comes home he isn't going to eat or drink there either, he has had enough of life because he can't do anything for himself

Dear Sheila,
They cant send him home like this. You need some help urgently.
What do you think?

Dear Sheila, stick to your guns and make sure you get extra help in place before they send him home, if he is not eating or drinking they will likely consider tube feeding.
I hope the lumber results throw some light on the problem.

Can you not refuse to take him home? I did this once with Lee when they were discharging him and he wasn't ready to come home.
I hope plenty of support is there for you as well as Paul.
Thinking of you and hoping you get some answers from the lumbar puncture
