I have been speaking with a carer who wants a laptop and lives in Norwich.
Her son is 15 and has ASD and he has had carers assessments, etc and a social worker contacts the mother once a month.
But no one has ever told her she is entitled to a carers assessment.
makes me fume.

That doesn't sound right the son having a carers assessment but not the mother, but why would the son have a carers assessment if the mother is the carer or am I missing something.

You only find out things through sites like this and other carers

I went to a carers event held by the carers group I go to and most of the organisations there told me to ask for a carers assessment and at first I was put off thinking they will be judging how good a carer I was, but then a really nice lady told me it was to find out what I need. I had the assessment last year and a lovely lady came to see me and got me just over £300.00 grant for educational purposes, and I found out yesterday you are entitled to that money every year - I thought it was just a one-off payment. Don't know if you have to have a carer's assessment every year as well, to get the money.
