Life after hospital .......

Postby debzsanderson » 25 Mar 2014, 19:16

Been very chaotic and stressful  since  leaving hospital. Transport suddenly appeared late yesterday and none of his going home meds were explained. I ended up having to ring ward as he's not to have any solid pills but his antibiotics were massive and not liquid like they had been. We had overnight care but mark was waking up every few minutes. Today the overnight carer went sick and his mum and sister aren't able to help and actually they are away at the weekend so I'm getting stressed. Marks very week and very quiet. Hospital keep talking about tube feeding and it's upsetting me.

Debz do you think they have sent Mark home to soon, so sorry you haven't got the help you should have, to others it's a paid shift but to the family carer it's a labour of love.

Debz if you are concerned or worried about the prospect of tube feeding you are welcome to PM me about it, I have been through it and trained paid carers to do it.

hu**** I am so sorry you are feeling this way Debz. It sounds quite confusing with all Marks meds etc.

I'm sorry I am of no help but here for emotional support.

Thinking of you lovely Debz.

It really helps knowing you all care. I am hurting so much inside because I feel like Mark has just been "patched up" and sent home. I had no choice but to remain by his bedside on the hospital and what I saw horrified me. Another patient in marks bay kept getting missed for meals and drinks and he often remained in bed most of the day until his family visited and got him motivated and he came to life. Pressing the buzzer meant nothing as far as getting attention. I just have to do my best for Mark xx

Debs,
we really do care, and this is the only way we feel we can be there for you.
So many times everyone has been there for me, now it is your turn.
If you wake in the night, please remember you are not alone.

Dear Debz, sometimes patching up is all they can do when someone is so very poorly, I'm sure your loving care for Mark will make all the difference.

Not looking good this afternoon.... Mark has started coughing again. Maybe doctor will advise a nebuliser for a while like he had in the hospital. He is also struggling to eat like he did in the hospital - he has a BMI  of 11 now. Doctor coming out after evening surgery .

Busy afternoon. Hospice nurse came out with portable nebuliser then gp came out. His SATs are down again to 92. He is on two types of nebuliser treatments three times a day and another course of antibiotics.  Dr also talked about peg feeding again but Mark is really trying to eat and hopefully his weight will start to go up xx

Hope Mark is more comfortable tonight.

It will be lovely when he gets more of an appetite and builds himself up.

Mark is refusing to use nebuliser. I haven't slept  but mark seems more settled now and breathing settled down.

At least you have the nebuliser there incase he need it, it is very difficult to accept you need these things so I can understand why Mark might be refusing it at the moment, he will use it when he feels he need to.
